Identify your goal. Do you want to learn to fly for a professional career, or just for fun? If you want to fly professionally for the airlines, corporate, etc. the usual route is to get your Private Pilot License, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot License, and Multi-Engine Rating. Most students will then opt to either build hours through instructing. If flying is just for you, you will need a Private Pilot License at the minimum - most will opt to get their Instrument rating for safety. Visit flight schools and take an introductory flight! This can be completed in a minimum of 35 hours (Part 141) or 40 hours (Part 61). The national average is 75 hours; a lot of our students complete in around 50-55 hours under the Part 141 program.Complete your advanced ratings Instrument Rating (IR), Commercial Pilot License (CPL), Multi-Engine Rating, Instructor Ratings (optional; CFI, CFI-I; MEI), Airline Transport Pilot License (ATP). Build hours You are required to have 1,500hrs for your ATP for the airlines. Most students build time by flight instructing, but you can also get a job at a commercial operator, or rent/purchase an aircraft and build hours on your own. Part 141 flight training is an FAA-approved program that follows a structured syllabus. Due to being structured and closely monitored by the FAA, students can often earn their pilot certificates with fewer total flight hours compared to Part 61 training, as well as having higher pass rates! Most of our students follow a Part 141 Program. We provide Part 61 flight training to those students that have already met partial requirements for their ratings, are training very infrequently, or where a Part 61 approach suits their needs better.
