Spin and Upset Recovery Training
The FAA requires Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) candidates to receive spin training and obtain a logbook endorsement before their checkride. Beyond meeting this requirement, spin training is an essential step in understanding aircraft behavior at the edges of the envelope.
Our training goes beyond the minimum. With our Extra 300L, a world-class aerobatic aircraft, we are able to expose you to the full range of Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT). This advanced training allows pilots to recognize and recover from unusual attitudes, stalls, and other high-performance scenarios in a safe, controlled environment. These skills translate directly to real-world flying, giving you the tools to handle the unexpected with confidence.
While the FAA only requires demonstration of proficiency for the spin endorsement, our program is structured to ensure you leave with a deeper understanding of aerodynamics, enhanced stick-and-rudder skills, and the ability to apply these lessons in any aircraft.
By completing our Spin Training, you will not only meet the FAA requirement for your CFI, but also significantly strengthen your overall airmanship. Many of our students describe the experience as both eye-opening and one of the most valuable parts of their training journey.
Spin Training and UPRT is conducted in our Extra 300L. You will receive expert instruction from our Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Joe Chennault, who not only has vast experience in military fighter jets and civilian aviation as a Captain and Instructor/Evaluator at a major airline, but he also does competition aerobatics.
